Libraries And You

What comes to mind when you think of a library? How about a community center? Libraries are much more than a building with books on a shelf. Valparaiso Community Library offers Spanish and French language classes. Each Wednesday, the library hosts a history class available for adults. During the school year, the first Thursday of each month is Early Release Movie Day for students. Looking for your family’s history? Visit our genealogy section. Computers are available for genealogical searching, work or browsing. And remember, while the library is based in Valparaiso, we are part of a community of libraries through the Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative . We are more than books on a shelf, we are your community center.

Presidential Relationships

What we see through the lens of the mass media does not capture the whole picture of the United States Presidency. Have you ever wondered how the presidents interacted with each other during their terms in office? Check out The President’s Club  (2012) written by Nancy Gibbs and Michael Duffy. Their narrative takes the reader from the relationship between Harry Truman and Herbert Hoover through todays’ colorful political environment dominated by Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
